To me, food symbolizes comfort, happiness and nourishment. Knowing that I’m feeding my body the most noutritious ingredients leaves me feeling blessed.
Today I want to share a very simple recipe for an apple-almond crumble, that is easy and fast to make.
I used a combination of sweet pinova apples, oats, maple and chopped almonds. All of the produce is organic, which I pay very much attention on. In my opinion it’s a very big step towards helping our planet, supporting the right way of farming and keeping our health in mind. No one wants to consume bad pesticides that will only harm our bodies and those around us.
This apple-amond crumble recipe can be enjoied as a dessert or even as a breakfast. It’s filled with the best ingredients that support your wellbeing.
Oats are high in fibre and if consumed regularly can lower your cholestorol level. From a youn age on, we’re taught that “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Apples are also able to lower your cholestorol level as well as fighting cancer and prevent type 2 diabetes. Over all they are a “superfruit”.
Almonds are a superfood. They contain many antioxidants, as well as Vitamin E, that keeps our cells membrane from damage. They can help with controlling your bloodsugar levels and are also known for their ability of lowering blood-pressure through their high content of magnesium.
I used maple syrup and coconut sugar as sweetener, which are also beneficial to your health, as coconut sugar has a lower glycimec index as regular table sugar and also contains healthy nutrients like iron, zinc and calcium.
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do every time I make it.
Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 3-4 pinova apples or apples of your choice
- 2 Tbsp of maple syrup
- 1 Tbsp of coconut sugar
- 1 tsp of cinnamon or more depending on your preference

Chopp your apples into small cubes and add them together with the rest of the ingredients into a sauce pan and bring it to a boil. Afterwards turn the heat down, put on a lid and let it simmer until the apples have softened.
Preheat the oven to 220°C.
Prepare your crumble in a bowl by mixing the oats, chopped almonds, coconut oil and maple syrup with your hands until it forms a crumbly consistency.
Pour the softened apples into small ovenproof pots and crumble the topping on to the apples. Take some leftover chopped almonds and sprinkle them on their as well.
Bake in the oven until golden brown and then enjoy!
